The Great Experiment, Day 2

Saturday, November 2 - Day 2 of The Great Experiment, November 1-10, 2019

Transcript:

Hi, this is Matt Bennett with Christian Union. Thank you for being part of The Great Experiment. For ten days, as you know, we are pressing into the Lord, trusting Him to do extraordinary things in our lives, in our families, in our nation. It's when Christians seek Him with great earnestness that the Lord responds. He does respond. He hears us. And your stretching in or pushing into Him makes a really important difference. So be encouraged as we seek Him. In due time He hears our prayers and He acts with power as we walk with Him and seek Him with our whole hearts. I want to read a passage to you from Hebrews chapter four that I find very meaningful for me as I seek the Lord.

It's Hebrews 4:14-15. It says, "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin."

So what the author's trying to make clear, what the Spirit of God wants to make clear, is that we have this great advocate, this great high priest who is always interceding for us. And this is amazing. I think people would have been blessed back in during the times of the daily sacrifices during the time of Israel that they could go to the priest and they'll do their sacrifice and go, "Okay, it's done."

Well, that's what we have all of the time. It's our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He's the perfect mediator between man and God, to humankind and Himself and the Father. So as you are seeking the Lord during this time, be blessed and be encouraged during these ten days. That He's constantly interceding for you. He hears you, He knows your concern, he knows your cry. You may be frustrated, you may be hurt in some way, but He's there. He's with you. He wants you to change in some ways, but it's for your blessing. It's for your benefit. During these ten days, it's a great time to listen and say, "Lord, where... How do I need to change? What sort of ways or way of life needs to change?" It's not just repenting of the big sins, it's just anything that He would have you change and do differently.

He wants you to be in sync with Him and He's our constant advocate, constantly before the Father. The excellent, the perfect high priest, which is absolutely wonderful. He is with you and He walks with you as you walk with Him and as you depend on Him. He'll encourage you as you take those steps of faith. We need to be in a different place in the United States. We need to be in a place where we understand and walk in His ways in a much better way than we have in the past. He'll help us as we seek Him.

Let me say a prayer. Lord, we love and praise You. You are good, You are blessed, You are Holy, You are righteous, You are wonderful in all your ways. Thank you Lord. We praise You in Jesus' name.

Now, let me give a blessing. The Lord bless you, the Lord strengthen you, the Lord fill you with hope and peace. The Lord fill you with comfort as he speaks to you and has you change your ways and walk in a different way that's pleasing. And may you experience and feel His forgiveness and Jesus Christ's advocacy on your behalf all the way. God bless and take care.

Here is today's guide for the “Five Rs” of The Great Experiment, November 1-10, 2019.

1. Read and Pray
Spend 30 minutes every morning reading the Bible and praying, and also spend time in the evening doing the same. To intensify your devotional times, consider fasting for some of the days. We have created a daily 30-minute devotional that you can use. Today’s devotional

2. Repent.
What sins do I need to repent of today? What hindrances to my devotion to Christ can I remove today?

3. Respond to the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit, what is the one thing you most want me to do today? (Write it down, and do it today).

4. Represent Christ.
How will I bear witness to Christ today? With whom shall I share the Gospel today?

5. Raise Your Faith.
Be bold and courageous in living out your faith. Choose from one of the following options for a “Joshua Faith Challenge”:

  1. Host an all-night prayer meeting. Set a date during November 1-10 and invite friends to come and pray with you for revival in America.
  2. Every day, pray for ten friends and family members to come to faith in Christ and look for opportunities to share the gospel with them.
  3. Share an evangelistic post on social media every day from November 1-10.
  4. Anything else the Lord burdens you to take on that will require courageous faith.

ing for us. This is what He does. He's the great high priest. He's taking care of business. The Israelites would have to go when they have a sin and do the sacrifice. This is happening all the time on your behalf, and to not accept that is not pleasing to the Lord. He went to great lengths and great sacrifice. He is with you, so I pray for you during this time of the Great Experiment. May the Lord bless you.

Let me pray. Lord, we love and praise and thank You. May Your name be taken to new heights in our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. God bless you.
