Ideas for Sharing the Gospel in Person

1. Invite your friend to church
Invite your friend to church this Sunday and make arrangements to meet ahead of time. Meeting them ahead of time for coffee or breakfast helps ensure that they make it to church, because it may be an unfamiliar experience for them. You could send him/her a message like this one.

“Hey ______, I’d really like for you to join me at my church this Sunday. I think you would appreciate the message. Let’s meet beforehand for breakfast at ___________. It’ll be a fun experience!”

2. Invite your friend to watch a Christian movie
The movie could be more or less “intense,” depending on your friend’s comfort level. Invite your friend(s) over for a movie night for The Passion of the Christ, God’s Not Dead, Courageous, or War Room. You could send a message like this one.

“Hey ______, There are a couple of faith flicks I’ve been wanting to watch. Have you ever seen Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ? Want to come over this Friday for movie night?”

3. Reach out to your friend for a conversation
Write your friend a message asking how you can pray for him/her and follow up with a meeting to talk further. You could send him/her a message like this one.

“Hey ______, I’ve been thinking about you lately and wondered how I can pray specifically for you.”

When they write back, you can reply:

“Great, I’ll remember that in prayer. I think God has something He wants you to know. Let’s meet for lunch and I can tell you more.”

4. Use Gospel tracts
Cru’s Four Spiritual Laws booklet is an excellent, straightforward presentation of the Gospel. You can purchase these in packs of 25 here or print them out yourself from the PDF here. If you are looking for other tracts, here is a list of best-selling tracts written by people like Billy Graham, John MacArthur, John Piper, Josh McDowell, and others.

5. Invite your friend(s) to a Christian concert, festival, or or other event in your area
The idea of going to church sometimes can be intimidating to some people. Find out if there’s a Christian event happening in our area and invite your friend to attend with you. Consider offering to purchase their ticket and making a fun day or evening out of it.

6. Send a verse to your friend
Is there a Bible verse that reminds you of something good about your friend? If yes, send them a text message, email, or social media message with the verse and a note about why you think it reminds you of them. When your friend writes back, see if you can lead the conversation to discuss spiritual matters or share your personal testimony with them.
